Laid Back and Blue for FL8
« on: March 04, 2008, 11:24:33 PM »
Updated!

 ;D
thanks to defect9, more little issues are resolved.
so here are two variations on the theme:

Laid Back and Blue - Classic (FL8)

Laid Back and Blue - Electric Blue (FL8)

Couple things i notice with the electric blue version though:
1.  Time digits may now seem a bit out of place.
2.  May be a bit harder to look at for extended periods.

So if you have trouble with the Electric Blue version - go Classic!

found a couple things.  easy fixes, honestly.

firstly:  in the mixer, since v8 came out, there's a new channel button type, the Selected channel.  it's the last one.  it causes some graphical issues if you don't have it in there.  Open the Mixer_select.bmp from the default folder and compare.

secondly:  slip editing has been added in v8 (technically in the 7.something betas).  You'll need to add that button in there so it shows up on the playlist icons.  file name is EETools.bmp, and it's the last button on the right in the default.  looks like arrows giving each other the cold shoulder.

thirdly:  this is more of a personal twitch than an actual omission.  on the online toolbar, the news text is overlapping the word 'blue' that you have in there where the globe used to be.

fourthly (is that a word?):  Open up the timebtns and change the colors to match your skin a little closer in the time toolbar, like say to match the background and number colors.

five:  if you get a chance, I think the tempo, pattern, and beats per bar (step sequencer) numbers would look awesome in the same blues as the clock/time numbers

okay, now on to some praise on the skin.  I admit, I didn't really pay much attention to the v7 of this skin you did, since it wasnt a style i would use, personally.  but I went over this one pretty thoroughly.  I love how you gave the skin more life than most do.  toggle/flip switches instead of press buttons where you could.  the shortcut buttons that dance and move instead of just blink (love the one for open audio editor).  A lot of people could learn from this to make their skins more exciting.

okay, those are my thoughts.  very nice job.

let me know if there are more problems with the skin or if there are any requests.
i now have LB&B Classic and LB&B Electric Blue.
maybe we need LB&B Spring Green or Winter White?   :P
seriously though, let me know what you think.

thanks,
scott

i really like these. super clean.
and in general i think a lot could be done with a *really* minimal style skin.

the knobs are great. innovative, but they work.
i like the stripped down step sequencer. i think it could be pushed even further, but that super minimal is nice i think.
id say more color combos is a good idea for sure!

thanks for it!
